What a week! So if you didn’t read my previous blog post I will catch you up on the week’s festivities. After being swept away by the Kendrick Lamar Grammy performance I decided to restructure my content and recipe development this week to pay homage to his song “The Blacker The Berry”. As a result blackberries took the spotlight this week and boy did they shine in these four new recipes.
Blackberry Kefir Smoothie
I was recently introduced to kefir, which is a yogurt like probiotic drink that offers superior health benefits. What’s even better is that the beneficial yeast and bacteria in kefir make it digestible for the lactose intolerant. When added with blackberries, mint and banana you get the perfect start to any day.
- 1 cup blackberries frozen
- ½ cup kefir
- ½ cup spinach
- ½ banana frozen
- 1 mint leaf
- 1 tablespoon honey
- optional: granola
- Combine all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately
- Optional: Sprinkle on toppings of your choice or pour onto of granola to make a parfait.
