In this ever-evolving world, the concept of having at-home date nights has become an enjoyable tradition for us. While we are no longer quarantined or practing social distancing, “the Mr.” and I have embraced the art of finding unique and fun ways to nurture our connection and spend quality time together. During quarantine, I surprised him with an outdoor froyo picnic on our balcony and made delicious No Churn Peach Frozen Yogurt.

Key Ingredients

  • Frozen Peaches: Using frozen peaches in this recipe ensures that you have the sweet and flavorful essence of peaches all year round, even when they are not in season. Freezing peaches also helps to preserve their nutrients, making them a healthy addition to the frozen yogurt.
  • Cinnamon: Cinnamon adds a warm and comforting touch to the peach puree. Aside from its delicious flavor, cinnamon is known for its potential health benefits, such as having antioxidant properties and supporting healthy blood sugar levels.
  • Vanilla Extract: Vanilla extract enhances the overall flavor profile of the frozen yogurt and complements the peaches. It infuses a pleasant aroma and taste, making the dessert even more delightful.
  • Kosher Salt: Though a small amount, kosher salt plays a crucial role in balancing and enhancing the flavors of the peach puree. It helps to bring out the natural sweetness of the peaches and other ingredients.
  • Peach or Vanilla Yogurt: The choice between peach and vanilla yogurt allows you to tailor the frozen yogurt’s taste to your preference. Peach yogurt adds an extra boost of peach flavor, while vanilla yogurt provides a milder base that lets the peach puree shine through.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: Sweetened condensed milk not only adds sweetness but also contributes to the creaminess and texture of the frozen yogurt. Its richness creates a smooth and velvety consistency.
  • Heavy Whipping Cream: The heavy whipping cream is whipped to stiff peaks and then folded into the yogurt mixture, creating the luxurious and airy texture that makes the frozen yogurt so indulgent and irresistible.

Taking advantage of the delightful peach season, I opted for peach yogurt and created a luscious peach puree to infuse the froyo with flavor. However, feel free to experiment with any fruit of your choice. First, I cooked frozen peaches with a hint of vanilla, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt, transforming them into a delightful chunky puree.

In another chilled bowl, I combined the yogurt and sweetened condensed milk, stirring them together until well blended. In a separate third bowl, I whisked the heavy cream using a hand mixer until it formed stiff peaks. Then, I gently folded the whipped cream into the yogurt mixture, creating a heavenly fusion of creamy goodness.

How To Make No Churn Peach Frozen

  1. Chill your tools. Before you start, chill 3 medium bowls and beaters in the freezer until ready to use.
  2. Cook on medium-high heat. Frozen peaches, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and kosher salt in a medium pot for 15 minutes. Transfer peaches to a bowl, refrigerate to cool.
  3. Blend chilled peaches into a chunky puree using a blender or food processor, pulsing on low 6-7 times.
  4. Mix together until combined. In another chilled bowl, mix yogurt, sweetened condensed milk, and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon.
  5. Whip heavy cream In the third chilled bowl whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then fold it into the yogurt mixture. Layer peach puree and cream mixture in a loaf pan, wrap with plastic wrap, and freeze for at least 8 hours or overnight. Enjoy your homemade No Churn Peach Frozen Yogurt!

The final task is layering the puree and the creamy base on top of each other in a loaf pan until you run out. I then wrapped the pan with plastic wrap and stuck it in the freezer overnight.

And when you wake up you will have perfect froyo waiting on you. While this is not an endorsement for frozen yogurt for breakfast, I can’t say that I’m opposed to the idea.  However, for us, it served as the perfect quarantine date treat.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best yogurt to use to make peach frozen yogurt?

You can use any type of yogurt for this recipe, but I recommend opting for whole milk yogurt due to its higher fat content. This will prevent unwanted ice crystallization and result in a wonderfully creamy and easily scoopable peach frozen yogurt treat.

Can you just freeze yogurt to make frozen yogurt?

Sure, you have the option to do it, but it won’t give you the desired creamy texture. Instead, it’ll turn into a frozen cube, and that’s definitely not what you want, right?

Fresh Peaches vs. Frozen Peaches?

Fresh fruit is the absolute best! But for frozen yogurt, it’s better to have fruit that’s lightly frozen. To get that effect with your favorite sweet fresh fruit, just pop your peaches (or any other fruit) into the freezer for an hour or two before you begin the recipe. That way, you’ll have the perfect texture for your frozen yogurt. Enjoy!

How to make no church frozen yogurt?

The thing about no-churn frozen treats is that they require a good amount of fat to prevent ice crystals from forming. So, when you start with ingredients like heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and rich, creamy yogurt, it really helps avoid that issue.

Storage Recommendations

Air-Tight Container: Transfer the No Churn Peach Frozen Yogurt into an air-tight container before storing it in the freezer. This helps to prevent ice crystals from forming and maintains the creamy texture of the frozen yogurt.

Plastic Wrap: If you’ve made the frozen yogurt in a loaf pan or a similar container, tightly cover the top with plastic wrap before placing the lid. This extra layer of protection minimizes freezer burn and preserves the flavor and quality of the dessert.

Properly Label: Always label the container with the date of preparation to keep track of how long the frozen yogurt has been stored. Generally, No Churn Peach Frozen Yogurt can be kept in the freezer for up to 2-3 months, but labeling helps you avoid consuming it past its best quality period.
